Do rat flaps cause blocked drains?

The Rat drainflap works by blocking off sewage pipe access to rats from the outside while still permitting the free flow of water and waste from the inside. In our experience after installing vast amounts of valves blockages only occur through bad installations. Insuring the valve is correctly installed prevents any fouling so correct installation is very important. 

How long do our rat flaps last

Our rat flaps are produced using marine grade stainless steel, we recommend that the valves are checked on a yearly basis but the valves themselves should last for upto 15 years.
